Earlier in the week we bought you news that LG’s Optimus LTE2 may well be coming to the US’ largest carrier, Big Red Verizon. LG have, in the past, shied away from bringing high-end phones to the US, either that or the carriers didn’t want to know. It’s not so much that the phones LG do bring to the States aren’t good it’s just that there’s always something holding them back. More often than not that little something is the software that LG bring along with the phone.
With last year’s Nitro HD for AT&T had a fantastic HD display and some good grunt behind it but, it was stuck on 2.3 Gingerbread and, was a terribly skinned version at that. LG’s latest offering however, looks like it could go toe-to-toe with Samsung’s Galaxy S III that is launching on US carriers, with some shipping delays.
The phone has just been through the FCC showing its colors for running on Verizon’s bands of 777Mhz through 787Mhz of their LTE range. Nothing else was let out of the bag concerning the handset itself.
It’s unclear whether or not Verizon have foreseen the delays concerning the Galaxy S III launch and decided to stock up their shelves with another high-end phone. The reason I’m saying this is because I doubt Verizon want to cannibalise their own sales on a flagship device. Although, then again, I am talking about Verizon here so anything is possible, right?
