Featured: Android Powered Gaming Console Raises An Astounding $3 Million In Two Days

Kickstarter is a great platform where people with ideas, products, movements, etc., can let the World know and in the process raise money for them whether that’s developing a new product or simply funding a great cause. One product that has really caught the attention of gamers Worldwide is OUYA, an open source gaming console that will bring great, high quality games to anyone and everyone, for just $99.

The success of their campaign has been nothing short of amazing. Their goal was to raise $950,000, however, that’s already been surpassed more than three times in just the first two days since the launch. With 28 days left, it wouldn’t be surprising to see this reach double, even break the $10 Million barrier as this appears to be a very appealing product to a huge market.

OUYA is just like any other gaming console except it’s 1) Open source meaning anyone, not just big shots, can develop for it and 2) It’s powered by Android, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to be exact. The specs are rather nice as well and definitely on the higher end.

  • NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage
  • HDMI output with 1080p support
  • Wifi and Bluetooth
  • 1 USB port

The system of course comes with a wireless controller which is very nicely designed. If you want to learn more about the OUYA and possibly pledge yourself, check out their Kickstarter. Looks to be a very exciting, fun project, and a rather profitable one at that.
