Google Maps is known for finding out where you need to go to get to where you want to go. From directions by car, walking, or on bicycle, it’s a good solution. Now, to make things even easier, particularly the many who rely on New York City’s public transportation, Google Maps will now feature subway alerts.
Instead of wondering why there is a delay or stops are being skipped, all this information is available at your fingertips. With 468 subway stations to choose from, you can see what times they’re running on and if there are any delays or issues of any sort, you’ll clearly be able to see that and click “more details” to learn what is affected. This is really a great new feature in Maps considering Millions of people rely on the subway system on a daily basis.
The new feature works both on maps.google.com as well as in the Google Maps app for Android. To use the subway feature, simply load up either the website or app and click on the subway icon. Then, put in where you are or will be and where you want to go. Then, choose your depart time and you’ll be presented with suggested routes and the various times.
Sure to be a great feature for New Yorkers, especially considering that the NYC subway system serves more than 1 Billion total riders each year.
