Featured: Google to Announce More Info on Fiber in Kansas City July 26th

As widespread as Google seems to be these days, with Gmail, YouTube, the Play Store and of course, Android you’d have thought they’d have done enough. This isn’t the case though as Google have been readying their Fiber video services for Kansas for a long time indeed, they gained approval for the project in March this year but, until now have been mum on details surrounding the project. Of course, the idea of using Fiber Optics to provide digital content scares Time Warner Cable and chums so it’s interesting to see how Google will be delivering the service.

Google looks set to reveal more information surrounding the service on July 26th, making the date, hopefully a model for what the future holds for digital entertainment. What this could have to do with Google TV is yet unknown but I’m willing to bet that Google will want to push the product a little more than do now.

Whichever way you look at it, Google are slowly and surely positioning themselves as a consumer facing company. With Android on the rise for years now and the Nexus line of phones becoming more and more popular and now the Nexus 7, Google is fast becoming a name on the lips of everyday people. It’s an exciting time for those like us that are so intertwined with Google’s services.

Look for more information on Fiber come the 26th of July.
