The Australian carrier Telstra is readying the update to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 for both the HTC One XL and the One S. Of course, as normal, take this with a pinch of salt as carriers all over the world will be keen to assure customers that the update is coming. With no official word from HTC surrounding the updates to Jelly Bean it looks like Telstra may be plucking at strings here but, if anybody is to know about what’s coming to their phones it’s going to be them.
This is of course, solely for Telstra at the moment and there’s no ETA or timeline given either which means that HTC could drag their feet a lot longer however, the update to Jelly Bean is only incremental which should make Sense and other customisations bought to the OS a lot easier to port over. It’s good to see that HTC are even working an update at this point, especially considering how long they’ve taken to update phones in the past.
Beating Samsung to the punch with an update to Jelly Bean will be good for HTC’s reputation and make the One line stand out even further. We’ll have more news on official updates when we get it, of course, you could always try your hand at a CM10 preview build here or there.
