It looks as if Canada are set to gain another high-end smartphone and this time it’s from LG. The Optimus 4X HD is definitively the Korean phone makers answer to their rival Samsung’s Galaxy S III. Now, I know that a great many of you out there don’t feel that much when it comes towards LG making a smartphone, especially with the recent news that they’re once again, falling out of favour with users on the update front. However, I’m actually looking to getting my hands on it here in the UK, whilst I’m also a little worried by their track record of poor support it looks like a very solid contender to the latest from Samsung.
Last week, amongst the mess of all the other quarterly results, came LG’s quarterly results and within it the company hinted that a few more powerful phones will be hitting North America soon. MobileSyrup have just been tipped that the Optimus 4X HD should be hitting shelves in Canada this fall and, whilst there were no mention of carrier the tip seems to be legit. One more high-end phone for Canada can’t be a bad thing, right?
For those of you not familiar with the Optimus 4X HD it comes packed with a 1.5Ghz Tegra 3 processor with a 4.7″ True HD IPS display, an 8 Megapixel camera capable of shooting 1080p, NFC connectivity and a 1.3MP front-facing camera capable of a nice 720p. The device packs in a fairly large 2150maH as well as Ice Cream Sandwich with what LG are calling the “Optimus 3.0” UI laid on top.
LG haven’t been known for the best smartphones in recent years but with the Optimus 4X HD it looks as if the company is ready to release a quality piece of hardware that people are going to get behind and enjoy. However, whether or not this ever sees Jelly Bean is looking a little doubtful thanks to LG’s past record with these types of things and should be something for you to bear in mind if you’re considering it.
