Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners may soon be treated to a new OTA, no it’s not Jellybean, it’s still Ice Cream Sandwich. This update, build IMM76Q (as shown in the shot above) is said to fix bugs and signal issues plaguing the device by introducing a new baseband to the phone. The update also comes with a new software version.
The build number may sound and look familiar to some of you because this update has been rumored for close to a month. Earlier this month a user on XDA posted a picture of this OTA, but it was clear in the picture that it was a test device since the serial number appeared at the top of the device. Users have also been told by both Verizon and Samsung that this update will address bugs and signal issues, and nothing else. So it’s looking like this could be the last OTA before Jellybean hits. Let’s hope that’s not too far down the road.
We know everyone wants Jelly Bean on their Galaxy Nexus (including me), but as we all know CDMA carriers like to test updates like crazy before pushing them out. Which sometimes can be a good thing because the updates should be more stable, in theory anyways. But if you’re really craving some Jelly Bean on your Galaxy Nexus, you can always root and install a Jelly Bean ROM. There are plenty out there and they are pretty stable.
