Announced last year and launched back in February, the Raspberry Pi has been a great selling mini PC that has went on to serve many uses. It’s small enough to fit in your hand and has a decent amount of power. And did we mention it’s $25? Great especially for the enthusiast crowd.
Someone by the name of Naren Sankar managed to port Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich over to the device. Still is in need of some work, but at this stage, it’s functional with surfing the web, watching video, and so on. Now, while Ice Cream Sandwich is great for the Raspberry Pi and all, the mini PC has less powerful hardware than what was found in phones two years ago.
Still, it’s great to see such progress and kind of hard to complain with a device so cheap. To brush you up on the specs, the Raspberry Pi features a 700MHZ single-core processor which includes the GPU, 256MB RAM, SD card slot, HDMI out, and 1080p support. It’s mainly made for builds of Linux, though I guess Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich kind of counts. Kind of.
