Last Friday, the Apple vs Samsung trial ended and Apple came out the victor. Even though Samsung tried to show that there was prior art to disprove Apple’s patents, they didn’t hold up in court. Because of that, the internal documents that made Samsung look not so great, and various patents that the jury found were infringed, Samsung had to pay a little over $1 Billion.
Anyways, Samsung is trying to minimize any further damage. An injunction hearing is set for September 20th and there it will be decided if various devices will be banned for sale. It’s said that Apple will really be pushing forward to have Samsung pay up and license the patents, but as far as Samsung actually agreeing to that, it’s a slim chance.
Either way, Apple came out today and said which devices they will bring up for a sales ban in the US because of patent infringement. Some of them are no longer available, but then some are. Here’s the smartphones that will be brought up for an import ban:
- Droid Charge
- Galaxy S Showcase
- Galaxy Prevail
- Galaxy S 4G
- Galaxy S2 (AT&T)
- Galaxy S2 (Skyrocket)
- Galaxy S2 (T-Mobile)
- Galaxy S2 Epic 4G
Samsung will for sure battle Apple over this one and one can likely expect an appeal. The fact is, Apple has the upper hand right now. They’re fresh off a win in court and that’s sure to factor into the decision on whether or not to grant Apple the injunction.
