Jelly Bean is making its way to another tablet but it’s not the one that you’d expect though. This tablet was not actually manufactured to run Android in the first place but that won’t stop hackers from tinkering with it, would it?
HP TouchPad the infamous WebOS tablet by Hewlett-Packard, which was discontinued by the company for really low amount of sales after a while. Well, developers over at XDA have been very busy with the TouchPad lately bringing Android ports for the device. We saw a working Gingerbread port followed by an ICS port and now an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean port for the device is available. The recent CyanogenMod 10 (Jelly Bean) port for the device has been put together by a reputable member of XDA Forums known as Jcsullins.
However, it is worth noting that this port is in its early stages so there are numerous bugs and glitches to be found. According to latest reports Hardware and graphical acceleration is unavailable, audio doesn’t work neither does microphone and there is no support for front camera either. So, if you’re into a mute tablet then you should definitely give it a go. Browsing and emails work flawlessly though.
The CM10 port will surely improve over time and all the bugs and kinks will straightened out. Other issues reported by users on the forum include a problem in the device’s charging but that seems to be an issue with a select number of people, nothing that a reflash can’t fix.
