So by now you’ve probably heard about this thing called the Galaxy Note 2 right? Well today Samsung began sending out invites to its’ Unpacked event in Berlin for August 29th, and the invite hints at the Galaxy Note 2. In fact the picture even shows a box with a stylus coming out of it. Now Samsung only has one device that uses a stylus, well one line of devices, and that’s the Galaxy Note. So it looks like August 29th is the big day.
Lately, Samsung hasn’t been announcing their flagship devices at trade shows like CES, and Mobile World Congress. This past May, Samsung held an Unpacked event in London to showcase their Galaxy S III, which later launched internationally and on 5 carriers in the US (4 major carriers and one regional). Last October, Samsung and the Android Team held an Unpacked event where they introduced us to the Galaxy Nexus and Android 4.0. So it looks as if this upcoming Unpacked event set for late August in Berlin is going to show us the Galaxy Note 2, and there is plenty to be excited about when it comes to the Galaxy Note.
So let’s quickly go over what we’ve heard about the Galaxy Note 2. The Note 2 is supposed to feature a slightly larger 5.5-inch display but keeping the same overall size thanks to smaller bezels, with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The device is going to feature the same Exynos processor you’ll find in the Galaxy S3, just a bit faster at 1.6GHz. The Galaxy S III processor is quad-core clocked at 1.4GHz, so that extra 200MHz should give the device some extra smoothness. We’re assuming it’ll launch with Ice Cream Sandwich, but I’d love to see Jelly Bean launch on this device, and of course Samsung will have their latest version of Touchwiz on top. There was also a slipped benchmark in GLBenchmark’s database, revealed as the GT-7100 while the original Galaxy Note was the GT-7000.
The Galaxy Note 2 is right behind the Galaxy S III as being the most anticipated device of the year. We’ve been seeing rumors and leaks of the device for several months now and we can’t wait for Samsung to unveil it at their Pre-IFA event, Unpacked. So who wants Samsung to take their money now for this Galaxy Note 2? And we are still waiting on a release date for that Galaxy Note 10.1 we saw at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, wonder if they’ll launch both devices at the same time?
