Featured: LG Announces Optimus Vu II, Remote Control That Also Functions As A Phone

LG seems to be hitting it hard this time of year. They’ve had several different phone announcements from the Optimus G to Optimus Vu with those two being released here in the states. There’s another phone, the Optimus Vu II, which will be released to the Korean market next month.

Essentially, it’s an overpriced remote control. Okay, we’re joking, but the whole phone is designed around a QRemote app which will allow you to control your TV and other devices. It will have infared, just like regular remote controls, built-in. LG sees that most people who watch TV typically have their phone by their side so this phone could come in handy.

We don’t have any specs for it right now, but it’d be safe to assume it would be a little better than what is found in its sibling, the Optimus Vu. That phone will feature a 5 inch display, 1.5GHZ dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 32GB storage, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Anyways, according to LG’s press release, the Optimus Vu II will work with a number of different devices, even air conditioners which work with a remote, and over 300 set-top boxes in total, both domestic and international. It’s a phone, but it’s a remote control. Would you like your phone to be able to control many of the electronic devices in your house?
