It seems just about every day a new phone is talked about, details “leak”, and launch dates are set. Of course I’m exaggerating a bit, but with Android, any manufacturer can run with it and create a wide range of phones or tablets with a wide range of specs. Most people know LG for products other than phones, but they also do fairly well with smartphones.
In fact, last month they sold 1 Million LTE devices alone with 5 Million total in a fairly short period of time. The LG Optimus LTE has sold over 2 Million units itself. Not bad, but not on par with Samsung. Still, that’s nothing to laugh at. Their upcoming phone, the LG Optimus G, is rumored to feature a quad-core processor with LTE and some other nice specs.
We don’t have official word yet, though the Optimus G is said to be unveiled at IFA 2012 which starts August 31st. Here’s what we we’ve heard so far…
- 4.7-inch IPS True HD display
- Quad-core processor (speed or architecture not mentioned)
- 4G LTE with VoLTE (Voice-over LTE) support
- A whopping 2GB RAM
- Nice upgrade from 8 megapixel cameras to a 13 megapixel camera
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with the LG Optimus UI 3.0
It appears the phone will be quite a speed demon and we’re definitely interested in seeing how well the camera performs. More megapixels is great, but if the lens sucks or doesn’t snap a photo quick enough, that could be a downside.
