Featured: LG's 5 Inch Phone Will Make Its Way To The US On Verizon

Phones seem to be getting bigger while also getting thinner and thinner. When it comes to a 5 inch phone, Samsung was the leader with their Galaxy Note. While many thought it would be a complete flop, one of the jokes being made about the stylus, they ended up proving the doubters wrong and went on to sell Millions of them in just a matter of months.

Now, LG is looking to get in on the action with their Optimus Vu, a 5 inch phone with all the bells and whistles.  Thanks to a press release as well as leaked photos, it appears that the LG Optimus Vu will be making its way here to the United States and will be available on Verizon. The leaked photos showed Verizon branding on the device. What makes this phone different is that instead of going with a widescreen, 16:9 display, LG has implement a 4:3 screen which is found on most older televisions or monitors.

It makes for a very different looking phone which can be a good or bad thing. The big question is how comfortable will it feel compared to others? As far as the specs, we’ve got these details:

  • 5 inch HD display at 768×1024 pixels
  • 1.5GHZ SnapDragon S4 dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 32GB internal storage
  • 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p video support
  • 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
  • 2080mAh battery
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

It’ll be interesting to see how well this phone is received when it gets here sometime in September. The 4:3 display definitely makes for a different design and feel which seems will either make or break it.
