Several weeks ago, we announced that the Galaxy Note would finally make its way to T-Mobile. After just two weeks, it seems that they’ve changed their mind and instead have cancelled the 5.3 inch “phablet”. T-Mobile was way behind and if you recall, the Galaxy Note launched back in October, nearly one year ago.
Why did it take so long to make its way to the carrier? We don’t know for sure, but it’s actually a good thing that the Note was cancelled. The thing is, the Note is due for an upgrade. If T-Mobile was to go ahead with the launch of the phone, there’s a good chance that they’d upset quite a few customers. The Galaxy Note 2 is expected here very shortly and makes a lot more sense to just wait for that than to launch a previous version only to have the new come out a couple months later.
We’ll likely be hearing more about the second generation Galaxy Note come August 29th when Samsung hosts their Mobile Unpacked event at IFA in Berlin. The specs look pretty sweet and is well worth the wait, that is if T-Mobile will be getting the device around the same time as other carriers (fingers crossed).
- 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display at 1280—800 pixels
- Corning Gorilla Glass
- 1.5GHZ Exynos 4 Quad processor
- 1.5GB RAM
- Up to 32GB internal storage with microSD card slot
- 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with 1080p video support
- No details on front-facing camera, but original had 2 megapixels
- Android 4.0 ICS (could launch with Jelly Bean)
Combine this with their upcoming unlimited 4G data plan and you might just have yourself an awesome combination. Again, we haven’t heard anything from T-Mobile yet, but definitely makes sense that they’d be holding out on the next phone said to launch here very soon.
