Featured: Aston Martin Goes Over The Top With Android, Announces The Aspire And 24 Karat Gold Versions

What do you do if you’re a luxury car maker and want to get into the mobile market? Well, you create an over the top phone that’s worth more than all the phones anyone has ever owned combined. Aston Martin is no stranger to anyone. They create quite possibly the most beautiful cars ever made and people pay hundreds of thousands of dollars (even more for the One 77) to get their hands on ’em.

The Aspire was officially unveiled in Hong Kong and to no surprise, it’s pretty dang pricey. The phone is available in white, black, silver, gold, and rose gold. And by gold, we mean actual gold as in the case is made out of high grade 24 karat.

When it comes to the specs however, it’s not nearly as impressive and makes you wonder what the heck the company was thinking when they decided to make a “new” smartphone.

  • 3.2 inch HVGA display (Better than Retina)
  • 800MHZ single-core processor (Moves like lightning!)
  • 256MB RAM (Why hello BlackBerry)
  • 512MB internal storage with microSD card support (Because you’ll clearly need more storage)
  • 3G, WiFi, GPS (To help find you in case you drive off a cliff while trying to read the small screen)
  • 1,500 mAh battery
  • Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread

So what’s the price? If you don’t want to be over indulgent and just want the Aspire in silver, white, or black, it’ll run you $1,290. But who are we kidding…you’re a connoisseur of luxury and only buy the best so the gold or rose gold will set you back $1,590. The Aspire comes with not only these revolutionary specs, but a leather pouch, Aston Martin headphones, and not one but two batteries.

All kidding aside, these specs are pretty laughable and disappointing. As P. T. Barnum once said, “There’s a sucker born every minute” and you can be guaranteed that some people will buy the Aston Martin Aspire.
