It has been reported that HTC is not making any Windows 8/RT tablet but that doesn’t mean it is giving up on Android tablets as well. There are rumors coming in that HTC has plans to introduce a successor to their not-so-successful HTC Flyer tablet, the new addition to the Flyer family will come with some decent specs and on top of that a Budget-friendly price tag.
The 2nd-gen Flyer a.k.a Flyer 2 will feature a 7″ 1280 x 768p resolutions display and an aluminum body similar to the HTC flagship devices, One X and One S. It will be powered by a Snapdragon S4 chip under the hood and Jelly Bean will come loaded right out of the box. Additionally, it will also sport a 3mp rear shooter and a 1mp front facing camera but the best aspect of the tablet will be its design, it is said to be only 7.1mm thick, that will make it one of the thinnest Android tablets available in the market.
Although, when it comes to 7″ tablets HTC has stiff competition in the shape of Nexus 7, upcoming Kindle Fire 2 and the iPad Mini expected to launch this October. Keeping the competition in mind, HTC will have to price their tablet accordingly to at least have a fighting chance in the market. Anything ranging from $200 to $250 is happily welcome but no one will pay anything above that for a 7″ device.
The Original HTC Flyer had an option for Stylus and a version of Sense UI that supported different Stylus action and hopefully the Flyer 2 will retain those abilities.
