HTC’s mysterious 5″ phablet has been the center of attention for the past few weeks. There have been several reports, leaked images and benchmark results flying around the web. Well, now guys over at HTCSource have got some more hot information on the device from a “Reliable Source”.
New specs include a 5″ Full HD 1080p display, Quad-Core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of Internal memory, LTE support and exclusivity for Verizon in US. The Verizon part is not confirmed but the source says so because the phone has a Red-ish theme like we’ve already seen in the picture and a DROID notification sound. Also, Engadget, previously spotted a mysterious device in Big Red’s inventory. The source also stated that the device is being called Dlx for now, that may be the acronym for DROID Incredible X, maybe but nothing is confirmed yet and we’re waiting for HTC’s event in New York to get more info on the 5″ “Phablet”.
This device seems the real deal for HTC and may give HTC a chance to make a comeback in the market with a bang. Previous reports included a Tegra 3 chip but that has been replaced by Snapdragon S4, if this “Source” is to be believed. However, Tegra 3 and Snapdragon S4 both have near about the same performance when it comes to daily use and you’ll only find a slim difference.
Let’s just hope that HTC does it right this time and brings out a true Galaxy Note (or Note 2) competitor. 1080p seems like overkill to me, what are your thoughts? Let us know.
