Featured: Nova And Apex Launcher Get New Update, Don't Upgrade Apex Just Yet (Updated)

There’s a lot of different launchers available for Android and two that are very popular are Nova and Apex. They both offer a similar experience and if you’re not a fan of manufacturer’s setups, they give you a nice stock Android feel but of course are very customizable if you want to switch things up. In keeping things moving along and not sour, both launchers received an update today and offer some new features.

Here’s the list of what’s new with Nova:

  • Since 1.3.0
  • Fix preview screen
  • Misc minor fixes
  • Since 1.2.2
  • Jellybean launcher features (Works with ICS)
  • -Desktop automatically rearranges to fit
  • -Long-press then fling to delete items
  • -Project butter related enhancements
  • Import from other launchers
  • Custom drawer grid size
  • Uninstall on quick menu
  • Performance improvements
  • – Smoother scrolling
  • – Faster load
  • – Reduction of memory usage
  • – Reduction of APK size
  • Fixes

The updates to Apex are along the same lines, however, allows you to force the tablet UI on your homescreen. As a word of caution though, Apex is force closing for a lot of people so we highly recommend you hold off on the update until it’s fixed. If you are currently running Nova though, everything seems to be working just fine. I’m not sure about there being any big performance improvements, but seems to buzz along like before.

UPDATE: Apex launcher has since been updated from version 1.3.0 to version 1.3.1 and users are reporting that the force close issue is fixed.
