Featured: Samsung's Galaxy Camera Gets Priced And Available For Pre-Order In The UK

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Camera was announced at their Unpacked event just recently and merges a digital camera with Android. Not only does it have nice specs like you’d expect with the latest greatest smartphone, but also features a large screen on the back, as well as the ability to download and install apps from the Google Play Store.

Did we mention it’s also got WiFi, 3G, and/or 4G? Instead of having to wait till you get home to upload photos to your computer, now you can upload them online or share them on your favorite social networks. Anyways, the Galaxy Camera is available for pre-order in the UK. How much is it going to cost you? £399 ($650) including VAT or £332 ($540) without VAT.  The camera will start shipping the end of October.

While this may be a bit pricey for a 16 megapixel camera, it, again, features some serious specs and added functionality you don’t get with other cameras on the market whatsoever. Here’s the specs:

  • 16.3 effective megapixel 1/2.3″ BSI CMOS
  • F2.8, 23 mm, 21x Optical Zoom Lens
  • ISO: Auto, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200
  • 4.8 inch Super Clear LCD rear display at 720 x 1280 (306 ppi)
  • Corning Gorilla Glass
  • 1.4GHZ quad-core processor
  • Mali-400MP GPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal storage with microSD card support up to 32GB
  • A-GPS, GLONASS
  • WiFi + 3G version or WiFI + 4G version
  • 1,650 mAh battery
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

The Samsung Galaxy Camera looks rather promising and is definitely the first of its kind featuring powerful specs and nice connectivity options generally reserved for other devices, especially not a camera. Whether it will go on to be a popular seller or not is another thing, but we’re soon to find out.
