We’ve seen several Nexus 7 competitors, both from Android and more recently from Apple and their iPad Mini. Acer seems to want to get in on the action as well with the Iconia Tab A110, a 7 inch tablet with somewhat reasonable specs.
With it being shown that the 16GB Nexus 7 will drop down to $199 and the 32GB version coming in at $249, the Google/Asus tablet is a tough one to beat. Acer’s new tablet is available now for $230 and comes with the following specs:
- 7 inch 1024—600 display
- 1.2GHZ NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB internal storage
- WiFi, micro HDMI out
- Average battery life of 7.5 hours
- Stock Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Comparing its specs to the Nexus 7, the Iconia Tab A110 has a lower definition screen, slightly slower processor, no NFC, and less battery life. We do have to give Acer some credit though when it comes to shipping with stock Android 4.1 and not throwing some UI over top of it. Also, the micro HDMI out is a nice addition which the Nexus 7 does not have.
Either way, when you factor in what you get with the Iconia Tab A110 and the Nexus 7, the extra $30 for lower specs and 8GB less storage just doesn’t add up.
