How many phones are Samsung going to out with the “Galaxy” moniker? I mean sure, it’s there branding and everything but, there was a time when it referred to the Galaxy S and that line of phones running Android alone. Recently, however, there has been so many phones packing the Galaxy name that it’s hard to see through the fog of them at this point. There’s nothing particularly wrong with Samsung’s strategy here but it’s certainly beginning to look like they’re just throwing out phones put together from old parts left lying around their factories. We’ve been hearing a lot about the Galaxy Premier right up from the moment it was thought to be a follow-up to last year’s Galaxy Nexus because of its GT-i9260 model number, the G.Nex was GT-i9250.
Recently though, there has been a lot more evidence to suggest that this will actually become yet another Galaxy S III variant. Another cut down version for the lower-end market. I have to wonder what game Samsung are playing here but, whatever it is, they’re intent on doing it. The phone is said to come with the following specs:
- 1.5 Ghz Dual-Core CPU – possibly a dual-core Exynos 4400 to keep costs down
- 4.65″ Super AMOLED display, the same in the Galaxy Nexus
- 8MP rear-facing camera with 2.0 MP round front
- 8 or 16 GB of Storage with a microSD card slot
- 1650 mAh Battery
There have been some more leaked pictures come out and if anything, the device certainly looks like a Galaxy Nexus in a Galaxy S III Halloween costume. I wonder what market Samsung are thinking of launching this device in because, I have a feeling that it won’t do all that well in the states, especially with an inevitable price-cut on their flagship device for the holidays. There’s one more photo below and, I certainly hope that Samsung is doing better things in the background.
