The much rumored Huawei Ascend Mate, a phablet expected to rival the Galaxy Note 2, may not even exist according to new reports about the companies latest devices. In fact, much of the leaked information and photos circling the web right now are likely to actually be the Honor 2, which is not expected to meet, or even be in the same ballpark, as the screen specs rumored for the Ascend Mate. The information was first reported by the Weste China news site, and then expanded on by GSM Insider.
A comparison between the Ascend Mate, which likely does not exist, and the upcoming Honor 2:
Rumored Ascend Mate | Honor 2 |
6.1-inch 1920x1080HD | 4.5-inch 720p IPS Screen |
1.8 GHz Quad-Core K3V3 Processor | Quad-Core K3V2 Processor |
2GB Ram | 2GB Ram |
4000 mAh battery | Unknown |
9mm chassis | Unknown |
Android Jelly Bean | Android Jelly Bean |
So, if you were waiting on more information about the Ascend Mate and how it was going to give the Galaxy Note 2 a run for its money, you can stop. It probably doesn’t exist, and Huawei is doing nothing to convince the press otherwise.
