There’s been a lot of speculation lately about who will be launching the next Nexus phone and if actually there will be multiple ones launching from different manufacturers. One company that’s been in the rumor mill is LG who, while is getting ready to launch the Optimus G, will be the next manufacturer with a Nexus device.
Today, things moved a little bit closer to that rumor actually being legit. A source got in touch with Android and Me and claims that LG’s very own Nexus phone was handed out for testing last week. While not a Google employee, we don’t have much information on the person so as usual, take things with a grain of salt for now.
As far as what the phone looks like, he said it looks very similar to the Galaxy Nexus and doesn’t have sharp corners like what we’ve seen with the Optimus G. Also, it has a silver ring around the outside like the iPhone 3G. Uh-oh. Let’s hope Apple doesn’t crank out another lawsuit. The source also claims that the phone didn’t seem to necessarily be larger than the Galaxy Nexus and that there’s a Nexus logo on the back with the “X” in four different colors, as well as accompanied by an LG logo of course.
Lastly, LG’s Nexus is in fact running Android 4.2 and seems to be very liquid fast and smooth, as one would expect with the Project Butter improvements introduced in the last version, 4.1 Jelly Bean. One thing that’s kind of disappointing is that the source also sent a photo, but “due to the nature of the photo”, Android and Me decided to not share it. That kind of sucks, but maybe we can get more details as time goes on.
Are you looking forward to an LG Nexus device?
