Featured: O2 Rolling Jelly Bean out to the Galaxy S3 Today, Vodafone Coming Monday

Exciting news for our friends in the UK. It seems that O2 is now rolling out the update to Android 4.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S3 starting today. Vodafone has confirmed to start rolling it out on Monday, October 22nd to their customers.

Yesterday O2’s Social Media team had the following posted:

“From tomorrow, 19th October ’12, you’ll be able to upgrade to the much awaited 4.1 Jelly Bean update over Wi-Fi or via Kies.”

So you should be able to pull Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean through OTA (System > About Phone > System Updates)or connect to Kies and download it. No word on how big the update is, so if you get the OTA hit up the comments and let us know how big it is.

As for T-Mobile UK, they are still working with Samsung to get Android 4.1 ready. Here’s the official wording from a T-Mobile spokesperson:

“T-Mobile is working closely with its device manufacturing partner Samsung to roll-out a Jelly Bean update for as soon as possible. As soon as we have an exact timeline in place we will confirm.”

So Jelly Bean is now hitting the UK, but what about the rest of the world. In the US we know we won’t get it until sometime in 2013, mostly due to the carriers taking their sweet time pushing out the OTA’s. Who’s running a custom ROM on their Galaxy S3?
