Featured: Opera For Android Gets Even Better With Faster Speeds And More Security

I’ve always been a fan of Opera Mobile on Android. The stock Android browser is okay and while Chrome is quickly gaining traction, it’s still a nice option with good speeds. Today, Opera Mobile got a new update and with that comes goodies that you’d expect for a web browser.

There were quite a few changes introduced and the first one was Opera’s own fraud detection. No, it’s not to prevent your bank account from being hacked into or anything like that. Basically, similar to what you’d experience with Chrome, if a website has been flagged in the system as being suspicious or used for shady activities, the fraud detection system will tell you with a warning.

One change to give more speed to the browser is the introduction of the SPDY protocol which is used in Opera’s desktop browser, among others, and makes loading up web pages more efficient. Another great feature is WebSockets which again helps improve speed by improving communication from servers to your actual device.

Lastly, there were some HTML5 and CSS enhancements, improved flash handling on ICS devices, improved Jelly Bean compatibility, and more. You can check out Opera Mobile for Android here for more details.
