The Samsung Galaxy S III Mini has been buzzed about and was finally made official yesterday. While it doesn’t pack the same specs as its bigger brother, it’s cheaper while still packing some decent specs. The phone is just 4 inches and funny to note that’s the same size as the iPhone 5. Amusing that Samsung going backwards is on par with the size of a very close competitor.
For those in the UK, the S III Mini is available for pre-order by Phones4U at a very attractive price of free. There’s three different carriers to choose from: Vodafone, Orange, and O2. Vodafone seems to have the most attractive two year plan with unlimited talk, text, and 1GB data for £33.00 per month.
O2 has pretty much the same plan, but it’ll cost you a few more quid at £36.00 per month. Of course if you don’t need unlimited talk and text, Orange has a plan that includes 600 minutes, 3000 texts, and 1GB data for £28.50 per month.
Here’s the specs:
- 4.0″ WVGA Super AMOLED display at 800 x 480
- 1GHZ ST-Ericsson Novathor U8420 dual-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage with microSD card support up to 32GB
- 5 megapixel rear-facing camera
- VGA front-facing camera
- WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
- 1,500 mAh battery
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Best of all, SIM-free, the Galaxy S III Mini will run you just £298.80 including VAT, £250.00 excluding. All in all, it looks to be a nice little phone and while doesn’t have the performance of the S III, a dual-core chip, 1GB RAM, and the latest 4.1 Jelly Bean isn’t anything to laugh at. We do wish the battery was a bit bigger though.
