The success of the nicely powered 7 inch Android tablet is one that is tough to duplicate as you’ve got the perfect compromise between a 10 inch tablet and not wanting to spen over a couple hundred bucks. The Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 have really lead the way in those terms and that’s also lead to new 7 inch tablets popping up trying to capture some of the success.
One such tablet is the One Touch T10 from Alcatel which is said to launch in Europe sometime soon. Since it’s a 7 inch tablet, not sure what’s up with the 10 in the product name which might be a bit confusing to consumers. Either way, it’ll run around €120 which is about $156 USD. While that sounds like a great price, let’s get into the specs…
- 7 inch 800 x 480 display
- 1GHZ ARM Cortex-A8 single core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 4GB internal storage with microSD card support up to 32GB
- VGA front-facing camera
- Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
As they say, you get what you pay for and while will be €80 less than the standard 8GB Nexus 7, you’re also getting a fraction of the performance (and half the storage). It’s great to see manufacturers getting the prices down on once pricey technology, but you’re better off just saving a little bit more money and buying something that won’t bog down on you, especially since it comes with the buttery smoothness of Jelly Bean.
