In the beginning of November, Clove announced that they would be accepting “pre-orders” for the Galaxy S3 64GB device. Those of you who are unaware, Clove is a retailer located in the United Kingdom (UK). It was announced that pre-orders was being put to an end, but not in a good way.
Clove has decided to NOT offer the Samsung Galaxy S3 as they weren’t able to attract enough pre-orders to gain the amount need to import the stock to the UK. Well that is truly sad to hear. How could there not be enough interest? Clove released the following statement saying:
“Unfortunately the number of pre-orders that we received did not meet the minimum required to bring stock into the UK, so we will not be ranging the handset.”
For those of you who pre-ordered already, I can imagine the anger surging through your body right now, as you will NOT be receiving the Galaxy S3 you had been excited for. An apology was also released for those exact people, but I’m going to guess the apology won’t be quite enough to calm some.
It was also noted that Clove put a two-week estimation for when the Galaxy S3 would arrive and it had since passed that two-week date. Did Clove extend the arrival date, or did customers with the pre-orders just not notice? Possibly they did not want to share the news which could potentially anger their customers causing them to leave? They are all possibilities, but JUST possibilities. It hasn’t been determined what Clove did exactly for this process.
I’m saddened to see such a beautiful device not get the attention needed to make it to the UK. It really makes one wonder why one device is hot in one area, but not in the other. Do you think Clove should have polled a survey before offering the pre-order options? There are many ways that matters like this can be utilized, and hopefully Clove will now learn from this before having to handle such a horrible announcement on behalf of their company.
What do you think? Do you think the Samsung Galaxy S3 had no chance in the UK to begin with? Or did Clove just not do enough marketing to get attention needed to import the stock?
