Currently: Nexus 4 8GB Ships in 8-9 weeks, 16GB in 4-5 weeks

Are these the pre-orders we have been asking Google to do for the Nexus 4? Who really knows what Google is calling them. But its crazy that people will have to wait nearly 2 months to get a Nexus 4. The 2012 flagship Google device won’t be in many hands before the end of 2012. Maybe LG needs to take some people off the Optimus G line and put them on to the Nexus 4 line and get these pumped out faster right?

Yesterday, Google announced that the Nexus 4 would be going back on sale at noon that day. Now as we saw 2 weeks prior, there were still plenty of problems going on. In fact Google had to put the sold out sign up just to reduce the traffic. Some were able to check out while others had to use the trick we posted about yesterday afternoon. It was just a mess. And as it got later in the day, the shipping times got longer and longer. They originally started at 4-5 weeks and 2-3 weeks for the 8GB and 16GB models respectively.

So instead of it being sold out, Google is at least letting you order your device. The only thing that is changing, about 24 hours after the Nexus 4 went back on sale, is the shipping estimate. At the time of writing this, shipping dates are up to 8-9 weeks for the $299 8GB model and 4-5 weeks for the $349 16GB. This is what Google should have done in the first place, just allowed you to order your devices and extending the shipping date. Or even do some pre-orders, and get a feeling for demand on the Nexus 4. If they did that things would have gone much smoother on November 13th when the device originally launched.

Well it’s not all bad. Because we do have a Nexus 4 that we are giving away. So if you’re still looking for a Nexus 4 but don’t want to keep the money in your account for the next two months in case it ships early, you could get one for free. So who ordered their Nexus 4 yesterday? How do you feel about the long wait to get your device? Let us know in the comments below.
