New Soak test for Droid Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD, Most likely Jelly Bean

While we are all talking about Android 4.2 – Jelly Bean lately, there are plenty of phones and users still waiting on Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean to arrive. The Droid Razr M on Verizon already received Android 4.1 a couple weeks ago, and it now appears that the Droid Razr HD and the Droid Razr Maxx HD are about to get their upgrade, at least according to this soak test invite.

In the past Motorola has been notoriously bad for rolling out Android firmware upgrades in a reasonable amount of time. In fact it took the Droid Bionic (Verizon) and the Atrix 4G (AT&T) nearly a year just to get upgraded from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich, and it’ll probably never get to Android 4.1. We’ve heard from the new head honchos at Motorola that they are desperately trying to change how things get done over there, and it looks like they meant it. We’ve also seen Motorola launch a new trade-in program which will allow you to get a $100 rebate on a device that was launched this year that won’t be getting Android 4.1. But that program does seem to have some problems, but we’ll know more in a few months once Android 4.1 hits more Motorola devices.

So if this is a soak test for Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean, that would be great news for Droid Razr HD owners and Droid Razr Maxx HD owners as well. As you’d most likely be getting Android 4.1 within the next week or two, as long as there are no major bugs or flaws found in this soak test that Motorola is about to start.

Just a reminder, Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean includes these great features:

  • Google Now/Voice Search
  • Expandable Notifications
  • Project Butter
  • Offline Voice typing
