The Samsung Galaxy Camera has been buzzed about and it’s finally coming to the US on AT&T November 16th. What’s the price? The Galaxy Camera will run you $499 and a data plan is totally optional. In other words, you can pick up the camera without having to agree to a two year contract.
One of the biggest concerns was, for the first time ever, having to agree to a two year contract…for a camera. $499 is the totally unsubsidized price, however, if you want to take advantage of the 3G and 4G onboard, AT&T has several plans to choose from:
- Add it to your Mobile Share account for $10 per month, or…
- $15 for 250MB
- $30 for 3GB
- $50 for 5GB
While $499 isn’t exactly cheap for a digital camera, considering the specs and it being the first camera of its kind, you’re paying for some pretty impressive features. The kicker is if you’re also in the market for a new phone, AT&T will give you $100 off the Samsung Galaxy Camera if you also buy a Galaxy smartphone on-contract.
Not a bad deal if you qualify. It’s going to be interesting to see how well the Galaxy Camera will do and is nice to see that people will be able to pick it up without having to agree to some two year contract that really doesn’t make much sense.
