When the Nexus 4 was announced a lot of people were wondering, “Where is the CDMA/LTE love?” Google has said that they could not go with an LTE version because they
“can’t create a device that’s carrier-independent with LTE built-in.”
One also has to wonder would LTE carriers like Verizon even sell another Nexus device. As Motorola has stated that even though they would like to make phones running a stock version of Android Verizon won’t let them.
It’s not all bad news though. Sprint has announced that it will be selling the LG Optimus G, which is the smartphone the Nexus 4 was based on. It’s said to hit stores on November 11th for $199 with a two-year service agreement. To make things even better Wirefly is taking pre-orders for Sprint’s LG Optimus G for only $149.99! Wirefly has posted on their site that the pre-orders will start shipping on the 11th of November.
In addition to the Nexus 4 specs, the Optimus G on Sprint is packed with a 13 MP camera and 32GB of internal storage. Top that off with LTE support and you have one amazing phone. However, its one fault so far is that it won’t ship with Jelly Bean. LG has promised a Jelly Bean update for the device by December. Unfortunately, they said it would be 4.1 and no mention of 4.2 so you would be missing out on some of 4.2’s amazing features like Photo Sphere, as well with most carrier phones you have to be sceptical of how many updates you will receive in your two-year contract.
If you do find yourself on Sprint with no want or ability to switch to a GSM carrier, the LG Optimus G on Sprint might just be the closest you are going to get to the Nexus 4.
