Android tablets have come a long in the near 2 years they’ve been on the market, but when it comes to getting 4G with them, there are only a handful of choices and with unlimited data at high speeds limited to good old T-Mobile this limits your choice to tether. If you live in an area with no HSPA+ coverage from T-Mo and you want to be able to stay connected on your tablet everywhere then the only other option is Verizon. It’s no secret that Big Red has the biggest and best 4G LTE network in the US and if you’re already a customer and know what the coverage is like in your area then having a tablet with them is perhaps the best option.
When it comes to Verizon though, there’s been little choice in the tablet department, especially if you’re looking for 4G, now though, it looks like the network has finally gotten a solid offering in the form of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, a tablet that might not shock and awe but, it certainly does the job as an everyday tablet device. Coupled with LTE on Big Red and you can take this around with you everywhere, no more worrying about WiFi where you want to go, just grab it and go. While it might have a fresh design it seems to be relatively the same on the inside as other mid-range tabs. With the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 you get the following inside:
- 10.1″ 1280 x 800 LCD
- 1.5GHz dual-core processor – more than likely a Snapdragon S4
- 1GB of RAM
- 3 megapixel camera on the back and a VGA camera on the front
- Android 4.0 with TouchWiz
So, it’s no Nexus 10 and for the price of $499 it is steep but, if you’re looking for a solid performer to throw in the car or take with you wherever you go then there’s little else out there to bring LTE to the table like this. If you’ve got a shared data plan you can add this to your plan for an extra 10 bucks a month.
