With Android 4.1.2 Update, Samsung Galaxy S3 to get some Galaxy Note 2 Features

We all know how great the Galaxy S3 is already right? Does Samsung really need to give Galaxy S3 users more features? Of course. It’s not being rumored that Samsung is working on the Android 4.1.2 update and it will be bringing the multi-window feature from the Galaxy Note 2 to the Galaxy S3. But why is Samsung working on Android 4.1.2 update? Why not just head to Android 4.2? Are my Galaxy S3 users with me on this?

For those who aren’t aware of the multi-window feature, it allows you to split your phone’s screen and run two Android apps by long pressing the back key. I haven’t used it personally (Nexus user here), but from what I’ve heard the multi-window feature works kind of weird. The inactive app freezes and there’s quite a lag when switching. That was on the Note 10.1, so it may have been fixed but it may not have been. So don’t say I didn’t tell you.

The Galaxy S3 is also supposed to get smart rotation, Paper Artist, a new gallery app and the Note 2’s Swiftkey powered keyboard are also coming along in the Android 4.1.2 update. But who know’s when the update will be available.

This leaked firmware is already rooted and is a test build that’s been put together based on a system dump. So be careful and of course Android Headlines is not responsible for any damage caused to your device.  There’s also a few rumors running rampid that the original Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) could be getting these additions and Android 4.1.2 very soon.

These are rumors so as always, all the usual warnings apply here. And if they don’t come out to being true, blame Sammobile. Speaking SamMobile, in the source link below you can find the download for this test build mentioned above.

For those interested it’s build I9300XXELK4. So it’s for the International Galaxy S3 only. Don’t try to flash this on any of the US variants of the Galaxy S3.

Flashing Instructions:
– Unzip the file
– Open Odin 3.04 (already included in the firmware package)
– Restart phone in download mode (Home+power+vol down)
– Connect phone and wait until you get a yellow sign in Odin
– Add I9300XXELK4_I9300OJKELK5_HOME.tar.md5 to PDA
– Make sure re-partition NOT ticked
– Start flash, sit back and wait a few minutes.

So who’s flashing this? Let us know in the comments how it works out for you.
