Just last week we reported that Oppo had confirmed via company spokesman that their upcoming Find 5 phone was not going to be making the rounds in Europe. Well just like the weather here in New England, if you don’t like the current news from Oppo just wait a minute.
According to a teaser on their Facebook page the company will in fact be bringing the device to a whole list of countries including many European ones. As of right now people in countries including: The United States, Canada, UK, Spain, Australia, Germany, France, Belgium, Malaysia, Sweden, Singapore, Finland, Greece, Denmark, New Zealand, Norway, Japan and Hong Kong, should be able to purchase the phone as early as Q1 2013. This will be similar timing to their home launch in China.
The Find 5 is the newest entry into a growing “Phablet” field and one of it’s major selling points will be a beautiful 5 inch full HD screen. This phone will be in direct competition with current Phablets, the Samsung Galaxy Note II and the HTC Droid DNA (or Butterfly), so Oppo had to bring some pretty impressive specs to the table and from a pure numbers perspective they appear to have delivered.
- 5-inch display with 1920—1080 pixels, including a 441 ppi pixel density
- Quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
- 13 MP camera with “stacked” sensor and 120 fps video capture with HDR video capabilities
- Front-facing 1.9-megapixel camera
- 2 GB of RAM
- 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage (not expandable)
- 2,500 mAh capacity battery
- Dirac HD audio
- NFC
- Android 4.1
It appears that Oppo will be selling the phone directly from a Global Retail Channel using a centralized website. Additionally we do know that the 16 GB will run consumers (US) $499 while the 32 GB will cost (US) $569. Pretty much in the same ballpark as comparable devices.
One last bit of good news for people looking forward to the Find 5 is that the above list of countries is only a partial one and there will soon be more to follow. Hopefully yours will be added soon if you are still left out in the cold.
