Time to Brag, Archos 101 XS Owners to Get Jelly Bean 4.1.1 in Latest Update

We have some fantastic news for Archos 101 XS owners on this delightful afternoon! Archos just started rolling out an update that introduces Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean to the device.

In addition to upgrading the last OS from Android 4.1.0 to Jelly Bean, Archos has also implemented some new features for their proprietary software.

Apparently, all future updates of the Archos video, music, file manager and system monitor applications will be offered through Google Play. This essentially just makes the update process more convenient! Archos app updates will be pushed through Google Play, which means that now everyone can benefit from them.

The Archos video app has also undergone an extensive overhaul, with several new features and enhancements that improve its performance and interface. Namely, the video information retrieval and media indexing systems have been improved, as well as, a newly developed network infrastructure sharing mode.

Forget the fundamental updates though, and let’s go back to the big news of the day. Jelly Bean, wow!

Archos owners certainly have something new to brag about, especially considering a lot of the big names in the industry have yet to update their devices. The Verizon Galaxy S3, for example, has yet to see Jelly Bean (4.1.1), but it’s not the only one. There are a lot of Android owners out there still waiting for the next update!

According to stats released via the Android Developer Dashboard, currently Jelly Bean only powers about 6.7% of the total Android market. That is a fairly large expansion over the stats released the month prior, which previously weighed in at 2.7% of the Android market. Gingerbread is still the dominant force with 50.8% of the market, and ICS is hot on its heels with 27.5%. Okay, so maybe ICS isn’t actually all that close to Gingerbread concerning those stats, but we can dream, right?

Regardless, it’s refreshing to see the Archos 101 XS become part of the 6.7%.

Way to go Archos!

If you have a 101 XS, you might want to start spamming the “check for updates” button. However, if you’re more subtle and patient, that works too! Jelly Bean should arrive within the next few days for everyone.
