Last Thursday, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was released on Verizon…Finally. Now just a few days later it has been rooted. As usual with any Samsung device, you’ll have to use ODIN and flash a rooted image file. But it’s really not that difficult. It’s also worthy to note that rooting does introduce some bugs. One of which is a broken signal indicator, although data still works. Users have also noted that the phone isn’t as smooth as it was when unrooted and stock.
Of course these issues are being worked on by our developer community. By now we know how awesome these developers are. So within the next few days we should have these bugs straightened out. Also this is just root, and there is no custom recovery available yet. As well as no bootloader unlock. Although we expect a custom recovery to surface very soon. As far as an unlocked bootloader, that’ll probably be a bit longer. But it’ll probably happen eventually.
So while you can root your Galaxy Note 2 right now, you can’t flash any ROMs yet. As you have no custom recovery and you can’t do it through the stock recovery.
This is a big step for those with the Verizon Galaxy Note 2. It brings you one step closer to flashing some CyanogenMod or AOKP onto your Note 2. And I’m sure stock Android is going to look awesome on that huge 5.5-inch display.
