Huawei G520 Gets Pictured; Includes Quad-Core Processor, 4.5-inch Display and a $225 Price Tag

Lately Huawei is trying very hard to get their foot in the US market and the rest of the world. They’ve even gone after Samsung at CES saying that they make the best handsets. While the jury remains out on that one. One thing is for certain, they are trying to prove to everyone that they are not just another “cheap Chinese phone maker”, and ZTE is trying to do the same as well. Last week at CES, Huawei introduced the Ascend D2 which is a 5-inch 1080p device, and the Ascend Mate which is a monsterous 6.1-inch 720p device.

Now a new Huawei device has leaked. This time its the G520 which might be sold as the Ascend G520. It will be available January 21st and will cost you 1,399 yuan, which works out to $225 based on today’s exchange rates. So for about $225 you’ll get the following specs:

  • 4.5-inch IPS Display
  • 512MB RAM
  • 5MP camera
  • quad-core Mediatek MT6589 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
  • Android 4.0 – Ice Cream Sandwich

Not bad for a phone under $250 unlocked. Although it might not come to the US, it’s still a great price for the specs it has. The phone pictured above is the G520 which also has China Mobile’s logo on it, so you know it’ll be headed over to China Mobile later this month. But at this point, it’s unclear whether the Huawei G520 will be headed to other parts of the world, or if it’ll be staying in China.

So if this device came to the US unlocked for $225, would you think about picking it up? Sure it’s not the most powerful thing out there. But for a phone that is under $250, I think this is the best bang for your buck. Especially here in the States. Let us know in the comments below if you would jump at this device if it became available in the US unlocked.
