It’s that time of year where we see leaks and rumors surfacing like crazy. With CES having just finished up a few weeks ago, and now we are seeing leaks and rumors for devices that will be announced at Mobile World Congress in late February. Lately, it seems all we’ve been seeing are rumors and leaks for the Motorola X Phone, HTC M7, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. But you can’t leave out the other manufacturers. Just because Huawei announced the Ascend D2 and the Ascend Mate at CES earlier this month, doesn’t mean the Chinese manufacturer is done announcing new devices.
A recent rumor showed the Huawei Ascend P2’s specs, and it looks to be quite a powerhouse. Here are those rumored specs:
- 5″ IPS display
- 1.8GHz quad-core CPU
- 2GB of RAM
- 8GB internal storage
- 13MP rear-facing camera; 1.3MP front-facing camera
- 3000mAh battery
- Android 4.1
So it looks to be quite a contender with the big manufacturers new devices like the HTC M7, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy Note 8.0. Now thanks to the guys over at Unwired View, we’ve got a first glimpse at the device that will probably be in Barcelona next month for an official announcement at Mobile World Congress. We’ve also learned that the display is going to be 1080p, so you can add this to the list of other 5-inch 1080p devices coming to the market soon. Although @evleaks is a pretty reputable source, it’s still a rumor and unconfirmed, so we urge you to take this with a grain of salt. But we’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date with any developments with the Ascend P2. We’ll most likely see it in Barcelona. And just a heads-up, Mobile World Congress begins February 25th. But Huawei’s press conference is on February 24th, so we’ll likely see this device announced then.
What are your thoughts on the Huawei Ascend P2? I think it’s a great looking device. But the factors that will definitely set it apart from the competition are the pricing and updates. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a Huawei device getting an update. So that’s something else to keep in mind. Let us know your thoughts on the Ascend P2 in the comments below.
