The Russian website hi-tech.mail.ru released a post today stating that LG will be uncovering the next iteration of the LG L7 phone sometime in February (or at least it will be released in February in Russia).
According to the source, the phone will have the following specs:
- Dual-core processor clocked at 1Ghz
- 4.3 inch IPS display
- 2460 mAh, which should have a life of 2 days
- 8-megapixel camera which will be able to record video at 720p resolution
- Android 4.1 (Jellybean) with an LG launcher
Even though it is to be launched in February, it seems it won’t be coming with the latest Android 4.2.1, but it will probably get the update eventually. This doesn’t come as a shock though, mid-range phones usually don’t come with the most recent Android version.
The source also mentioned that among some of the pre-installed apps are Quickmemo, QuickTranslator and QSlide. Another cool thing about the phone is that it will come equipped with a button that will let you choose the primary SIM card, which I consider to be a nice touch. Having to do it through software, rather than a physical button is over-complicating a thing that should simplify having two numbers on you.
The addition of this phone to the sparse dual-sim market offering will definitely be welcomed by all who use them, and also to those who are thinking of using these kinds of smartphones.
Along with the leak also came two pictures portraying the front of the phone. The phone will be available at launch in two colors: black and white. The pictures can be seen at the bottom of the post.
The mid-range LG L7 II Dual smartphone will come at a price of $430 or 320 euro (or 12990 rubles as the leak specified it).
The LG Optimus L series is doing pretty well for LG, after just a year since it entered the market, it sold over 10 million units across 50 or so countries. The move for the Dual-SIM market is at least surprising, but not at all shocking. Bringing a mid-range 1GHz dual core phone is definitely going to get some attention on that corner of the market.
