Sony Xperia ZL Making Its Way To Canada Soon

Sony’s newly announced Xperia ZL (slightly different from the Xperia Z), is getting ready to make a Canadian debut pretty soon. According to @SonyXperiaCA‘s twitter account:

Great news and you’re hearing it here first – The #XperiaZL will be coming to Canada. #SonyCES

While that’s good news, that doesn’t give us a ton of information. For instance, we don’t know prices, launch dates, or carrier availability. It should be in stores by the end of Q1, so by March you should be able to grab an Xperia ZL.  But we do already know the specs thanks to Sony’s keynote earlier this week in Las Vegas at CES. The specs for the Sony Xperia ZL include:

  • 5-inch 1080p display
  • Quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB internal storage; Expandable via micro SD card
  • 13MP rear-facing camera; 2MP front-facing camera
  • 131.6mm x 69.3mm x 9.8mm
  • 2,370mAh battery
  • Android 4.1.2 – Jelly Bean

Unlike the Xperia Z, the Xperia ZL is not water or dust proof. Which allows the Xperia ZL to have a thinner bezel and giving you more screen real estate in a slightly smaller form factor. We’re hoping to get more information soon, as to whether the Xperia ZL will be available unlocked only or be available from carriers and sign a lengthy 3-year contract for an Xperia ZL. We’ll have to wait and see, so make sure you stay tuned to Android Headlines for more details. So far there are no details about the Xperia Z coming to Canada as well, and no information about either device coming to the US yet either.

Who’s interested in the Xperia ZL? Honestly, I am pretty intrigued by the device. I really hope both the Xperia ZL and Xperia Z do well, and will allow Sony to sell more devices and more high-end devices in North America. Who can’t wait to get their hands on the Xperia ZL?
