We heard last week that T-Mobile was getting ready to launch a new pre-paid plan that included truly unlimited data. Which they brought back to their contract plans in September of 2012. Their new $70 prepaid plan includes unlimited minutes, texts and unlimited data. That’s a great deal, especially with no contract. This new plan will be available starting tomorrow, January 9th. So be sure to check that out.
T-Mobile is also offering the LG Optimus L9 for an off-contract price of $200. This device can be used on a prepaid plan as well. But that’s not your only choice for hardware. Because T-Mobile is a GSM network, you can bring over just about any device you want. Even a Galaxy Nexus or Nexus 4. So if you want pure Android with truly unlimited data (no throttling) there’s no where else to go.
Here are some other devices you can choose from for this plan:
- Samsung Dart
- T-Mobile Prism
- Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G
- Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G
- Samsung Galaxy S2
- Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G
- T-Mobile Comet
- T-Mobile Concord
- Samsung Galaxy S3
- Samsung Gravity Smart
So if you were looking for a no-contract plan with unlimited data, this is probably the best one for you right now. Although Sprint is launching their own which will be $70/month later this month. But you have very limited choices for hardware. Most of the devices listed above are fairly old devices and are probably running Gingerbread or older versions of Android. But the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3 look to be pretty good choices.
T-Mobile’s presser is just getting started so we are sure we’ll hear more from them within the next hour or so. And pretty sure we’ll hear about their LTE plans. So stay tuned to Android Headlines for the latest from CES in Las Vegas.
So who’s switching to this $70 plan? With T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network (I get around 25mbps), you can use quite a bit of data, and not having it throttled after 2GB or 5GB is a huge deal. Let us know in the comments if you plan on switching.
