Over the past year there have been some amazing devices to hit the market. Samsung has surpassed some huge sales goal and it’s lines of smartphones are selling like hotcakes. Since its release the Samsung Galaxy Note II has already sold over a million devices and it’s smaller brother the Galaxy S3 is one of the best selling smartphones of all time. It has been reported today that Verizon consumers have rated their favorite devices; on the list is the Droid DNA, the Motorola Razr Maxx HD, and the iPhone 5.
But leading the pack is the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II. An amazing device that has changed the way we think of smartphones and has started it’s own sector of smartphones. I remember when the original Note was released many people said that it was just a fad and was too big to be a usable or practical device. Well it seems they were wrong! The Verizon Note 2 has a satisfaction rating of a 4.8 out of 5 with 96% of users recommending it to others. It has proven itself to be the original “phablet” (a term I despise) and has changed the smartphone industry. Phones are now being released with larger and larger screens and are even encroaching on the tablet space (I am talking about the Huawei Mate which is a 6.1″ monster) all because of the popularity of the Note line of phones. It seems that the mobile phone market has taken a bell graph style of design where the original cell phones were the size of a brick and gradually got smaller and smaller and now we are enjoying larger devices again because of the screen real estate they offer.
Verizon launched the Note II in November 2012 and since then it has been one of it’s best selling devices. The price is set at $299 on contract and comes equipped with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 16GB of storage, a Quad-Core processor, expandable memory and 2GB of RAM. I have been lucky enough to have a Note II and I concur that it is one of the best smartphones I have ever used and I am so glad I have the opportunity to use it on a daily basis. The main thing I had to get used to was its size, but after a week or two I couldn’t think of using anything else. Now when I pick up a device like the Galaxy S3, which is relatively large device at 4.8″, it actually seems small to me. The best part of the Note II is its speedy internals, it has been able to handle any tasks I have thrown at it, with speed to spare. With the Android 4.1.2 experience on it, it is silky smooth, can handle full multitasking with multi-window applications, has all the bells and whistles and its screen is beautiful for media consumption, gaming and work related activities. One of the best parts of all this is that 3 Android devices have beat out the iPhone for Verizon consumers ratings. That is huge for this marketplace and shows that people are moving more and more towards the advanced features, customization and hardware of the Android line over the locked down structure that is the Apple ecosystem. Though, for some users the iPhone 5 is perfect for their needs and they like the Apple style, there are many people who are finding the usability of Android to be better and that is a good thing for all of us! The more that Apple and Google feud over consumers the more they are innovating and making the technology better; this is important for us because it gives us better gadgets to play with every year. I, like many Verizon consumers recommend this device, so get up and go take a look at it at your nearest carrier store; it is well worth your consideration.
