Earlier today we told you about Vizio’s 7-inch tablet, that’s running a Tegra 3 processor, now we have a 10-inch Vizio tablet (which also doesn’t have an official name) but is running NVIDIA’s just announced Tegra 4 chip. This device is really going to compete with Samsung/Google’s Nexus 10. A lot of the specs are fairly similar too. Also Vizio likes to stick with stock Android, which is always good for the consumer. Here’s the spec sheet:
- 10-inch 2560×1600 resolution
- Android 4.2 (first non-nexus device with 4.2?)
- 32GB internal storage
- Front and rear cameras (no specifics on them yet)
- Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, and your standard connectivity ports
Vizio did not give out pricing information, and we also have no idea where Tegra 4 devices will be priced. But having almost the same specs as the Nexus 10, I’d expect Vizio to price it around $399, especially if they want to compete with Samsung’s Nexus 10. Hopefully Vizio will be able to keep this tablet in stock.
In an interview with The Verge, Vizio’s CTO Matt McRae said :
“We looked at what people were buying and commenting on […] and we came to the conclusion that the Android UI has come along far enough that the stock Android UI is [best for] a superior device.”
Now why can’t the rest of the manufacturers find that out? If the rest of the manufacturers like Samsung, and HTC could find out that stock Android is the best choice for a device, we’d all get along much better. And updates would probably come out quicker. It’s a great looking device, and has a great looking display, it’s nearly 300ppi. Which is pretty good, I doubt you’ll be able to see any pixels on the display.
