Not to long ago we saw a promotional video leaked for the Chromebook Pixel, which was kinda like every Google fans dream. Well that dream is now a reality. The Chromebook Pixel is indeed real, and is on sale now through Google Play. But before you rush over there and buy it, check out these specs:
- 12.85-inch touchscreen display, 2560×1700 resolution, 239PPI with 3:2 aspect ratio
- 2 USB 2.0 ports
- Mini display port
- 2-in-1 card reader supporting: SD, MMC
- Backlit Chrome keyboard
- HD Webcam
- Intel Core i5, dual-core 1.8GHz processor
- 4GB of DDR3 RAM
- 32GB SSD/64GB SSD for the LTE model
- 5 hours of battery life
- Bluetooth 3.0
- 1TB of Google Drive free for 3 years
- 12 free sessions of GoGo Inflight Internet
Now looking at those specs, you’d expect it to cost more than $200-400 right? Well, it’s a lot more than that. It’s nearly $1300 for the Wi-Fi model and $1449 for the LTE model which is also bumped to 64GB of Solid State Storage. The touch screen is a 3:2 aspect ratio with over 4.3 million pixels. It is just beautiful. It’s a great looking laptop, and I’d love to grab one. You also get 100MB/month for 2 years of LTE from Verizon Wireless. Which means you can run about 1-2 speed tests per month. So it’s not a big amount of data, but at least it’s something.
The Chromebook Pixel is available now in the Google Play Store for $1299/$1449 and ships in 3-5 days. So the price is kinda high, but when you see all that you are getting it’s not to bad actually. Think of it this way, other laptops with these specs go for well over $1500, especially those with touch screens that are a lower resolution. For those of you waiting for a Chromebook with a better display, and better processor, this is the one. But I might hold out for one that’s a bit cheaper, between the Samsung Chromebook and the Chromebook Pixel. The screen here is where Google are really focusing, not only does it come with that amazing resolution of 2560 x 1700 but it’s also insanely bright at 400 nits.
So how many of you are going to run to the Google Play Store and grab this Chromebook Pixel? I don’t think it’ll be selling out anytime soon, but I could be wrong. Hit the link below to purchase the Chromebook Pixel now. Take a look at the teaser below to get you drooling:
