LG has just announced their flagship device for 2013, which is the Optimus G Pro. We all figured it would be announced at Mobile World Congress which starts next week. But instead, they decided to announce it today. What’s interesting, is that this Optimus G Pro is the first phone to use Qualcomm’s 600 quad-core processor which was announced at CES last month. The processor is clocked at 1.7GHz. While we’re on the specs, let’s check out the full spec sheet.
- 5.5-inch Full HD Display (1920×1080 resolution)
- 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor
- 2GB or DDR RAM
- 32GB internal storage; Expandable via microSD card slot
- 13MP rear-facing camera; 2.1MP front-facing camera
- 3,140mAh battery
- Android 4.1.2 – Jelly Bean
- 150.2×76.1×9.4mm dimensions
Yes, that’s 400PPI for the Optimus G Pro, which is pretty close to what the HTC Droid DNA/Butterfly/J Butterfly. The Optimus G Pro also has a 4G LTE radio, so we should expect it on at least one of the carriers in the US. But I’d expect it to be available on at least Verizon, Sprint and AT&T. Hopefully T-Mobile will have it as well. The Optimus G Pro is going to make an appearance at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week.
The Optimus G Pro will come with advanced UX features which are developed specifically for the Optimus G Pro. These features include dual recording and Virtual Reality Panorama. Dual Recording allows you to capture video with both cameras simultaneously for a cool looking picture-in-picture experience. Virtual Reality Panorama allows shots of entire horizontal and vertical environments for a full 360-degree view.
Overall the LG Optimus G Pro is looking like a great device. Along with the Snapdragon 600 processor, this should be a pretty powerful device and have be a great competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and any other 5.5-6 inch devices we see at Mobile World Congress and through out the rest of the world.
