Recent rumors are floating about, Mobile World Congress is coming up in less than two-weeks time, HTC’s M7 and Samsung’s Galaxy SIV announcements are now just over the horizon. That makes it rather easy to keep a somewhat less than exciting Consumer Electronics Show of last month in the rear-view mirror. There were a few show stoppers from CES that need not be forgotten so soon. In Fact, Sony unveiled two major additions to its Experia line in Las Vegas that most called the mobile devices of the show. The Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL, both are to be released in Q1 of this year, but most likely, they will not both be available in every market.
There has been a video just recently surfacing showcasing the camera features of the Xperia Z. YouTube user MARCO KAO, is the lucky early adopter of the Xperia Z in this video and the feature noted here is the burst mode. The burst mode on the new Xperia Z and ZLs is capable of a mind-blowing 1,000 shots in just north of one-minute. This is something that has never before been seen with a mobile phone camera, and is with the camera shooting 9-megapixel images, so it is no small feat by any stretch of the imagination.
As far as a practical application, for most people there will probably never be one. The importance of this, and the reason for discussing the video, is that it actually speaks extremely well for the speed of the devices memory, image processor, CPU and GPU. If it can perform a task such as this consisting of that many successive tasks, then mundane user tasks should be a breeze for this machine and the new Xperias should be just insanely zippy.
The Xperia Z should fly through any task you throw at it with its Qualcomm quad-core 1.5 GHz MDM9215M Krait processor, Qualcomm Adreno 320 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. This device has a 5-inch 1080p display and weighs 146 grams, has 16GB of internal storage that is expandable via micro USB. The Xperia ZL is basically a fraternal twin brother of the Xperia Z. With the only difference in specs between the two being in aesthetics and one key feature, with the ZL being made up of mostly plastic and the Xperia Z being clad more in glass. The Xperia Z also has IP57 certification (water and dust resistant) and is water proof in up to one-meter of water for 30 minutes time. There is also a slight difference in the weight of the two with the Xperia Z weighing 5-grams more (151g) than the Xperia ZL.
