There is not really much debate that Verizon’s HTC Droid DNA is an awesome phone, but just like most other devices it does have it’s share of minor bugs that will irritate even it’s biggest fans. According to a support page on Verizon’s website however, help is on the way. The first 5-inch, 1080p device in the United states will be seeing a pretty sizeable update in the near future. And although this update isn’t bringing Android 4.2 with it, there is enough there to make DNA owners happy.
A common complaint with the DNA was that people were having trouble holding a 4G LTE connection while connected to other devices, so included in this update will be enhanced hot spot connectivity for those of you out there who like to tether. Another bug found was the inability to stream from HULU Plus and that will be fixed in this update as well.
Audio quality was also a complaint with DNA users and they will be seeing improvements for both wired headsets and earpieces as well as Bluetooth connectivity and volume levels for specific models. Additionally WiFi connectivity will be improved so you aren’t stuck using your precious Verizon data all the time, which any VZW user will tell you costs an arm and a leg.
Last and certainly not least there will be a bunch of general UI and software improvements included in this forthcoming update. First up on the agenda will be an updated contacts list that enhances the reliability and stability of the app giving the user a more responsive experience. The stock browser will also will be seeing an upgrade with improvements to its zooming capabilities. The messaging app, which was showing the wrong time stamp for incoming messages, will now show the correct time the message was received. Finally, the enhanced recent apps functionality has been improved.
Being that there are a lot of fixes in this update, it will be a pretty big download and comes in at 103.5 MB. This will also change your baseband to 1.01.01.0110. So Droid DNA Owners be on the lookout for the update named SW Version 2.04.605.2 710RD. There was no specific date given but we’re expecting the rollout soon. Be sure to let us know when you first see it and tell us how you like the improvements.
