Featured image for Android Phone Wars: Samsung Galaxy S4 vs HTC One

You knew we had to do it, put the Samsung Galaxy S4 up against HTC’s latest flagship the One. We’ve done these before, so you should know the drill. We put each phone up against each other go over the specs, pro’s/con’s, and decide on a winner. We’ve got the Galaxy S4 which has a 5-inch 1080p display, and the HTC One who has a 4.7-inch 1080p display. But which phone will come out on top?

Samsung Galaxy S4

The Galaxy S4 is the newest kid on the block, but that doesn’t mean it’s not popular. The Galaxy S line has been super successful over the past few years. The Galaxy S4 will be no different. Even though it doesn’t look much different from the Galaxy S3, it’s still a powerhouse for 2013. One thing that everyone is upset about is the two chipsets being used. In LTE markets, you’ll have the Snapdragon 600, while the rest of the world gets an Octa-core Exynos 5 processor. Samsung has also added a ton of new features in the Galaxy S4, which will be hitting markets this April.

Pros:

  • Powerful Processor
  • Expandable storage
  • Removable battery
  • Landing on most carriers

Cons:

  • Looks almost the same as the Galaxy S3
  • Not available yet

HTC One

The One is HTC’s only flagship for 2013. It’s bringing a new version of their custom skin Sense, along with dual speakers on the front, Blinkfeed, and almost identical specs to the LTE version of the Galaxy S4. It’s also packing a full HD display into a smaller display, making it a better choice for those that don’t want a 5-inch device. The HTC One is coming to AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, while the Galaxy S4 is coming to more carriers, the One is going to be more competitive this year than in previous years.

Pros:

  • Coming to AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile
  • Dual front-facing speakers
  • Better camera (theoretically, we haven’t tested it yet)

Cons:

  • Non-removable battery
  • Non-expandable storage

Winner

We’d have to give the Galaxy S4 the crown in this one. It’s coming to more carriers, has a removable battery, and more storage. The Galaxy S4 also has Android 4.2.2, which is the most current version of Android. At least until Google I/O comes in May. No other phone has Android 4.2.2, officially, besides Nexus devices. Kinda hard to beat all of that. That doesn’t mean the HTC One is a bad phone, I’d definitely pick it up as my next phone. Mostly because I love HTC’s hardware, it speaks premium compared to Samsung’s Galaxy S4.
